Abracadabra is from the Aramaic phrase avra kehdabra, meaning “I will create as I speak”.
Abracadabra while its being hijacked, mainstreamed and used in the theatrical, mystical flair by particular people; magicians, from its origin it basically means the act of creation through what we say or think.
There are days and times when everything seems deary and without meaning. It could come in different forms eg disillusionment, disconnection, listlessness, burnout, disenchantment, emptiness or even depression.
This leaves you longing for a sense of wonder and adventure and excitement. Some element of magic.
“I will create as I speak”.
“I will”, implies that it’s a decision. It implies agency. We choose to either create or not.
The word Abracadabra, therefore, means that “can” (decide) we create our own magic.
The world is how we see it or choose to see it. And we see what we choose to see or decide to look for.
There is a fable about a woman that kept saying that her neighbour didn’t know how to launder her clothes well because each time she looked out of her window, the neighbour's laundry on the line appeared dirty. It wasn’t until her kids came home and while helping her tidy her house, and cleaned her windows, did she realise that her neighbour’s clothes weren't dirty, she was just looking through a dirty window.
“What we map depends on where we look, what factors we choose to focus on, and what aspects of the terrain we decide to represent. Since these choices will shape the kind of map we produce, there is no perfect map of the terrain.” Peter Senge
Our situations or circumstances won’t “magically” change, but we have all the magical powers within us to fix them just by waving the wand of our perspectives/ beliefs.
Let me tell you how “mindblowing” our power to create is. Let's say you have chosen to not like someone anymore. They have upset you and you really want to stew in it, what do you do?
You start looking for and focusing on their bad traits. You start remembering all the horrible things they have done, just so that you’re justified in your anger because you can’t hate a “good” or loveable person, you have to first demonise them. You create the “demon” version of them.
The same thing happens when you have chosen to love that person.
Magic doesn’t need to be spectacular or dramatic. It’s in the wonder and amazement we find in little things. It’s an ordinary type of magic, where against our better judgement or inclinations we choose another frame to look through. We choose another narrative. One that serves us. One that makes us feel more alive and in control. One that is kind to us.
We can create whatever we want and see whatever narrative we want.
My hope is that you “see” the version of the things you want to see.
Keep going,

In the spirit of this article, I declare that today is a good day!
“I will create as i speak” so so deep! It’s almost like the things we tell ourselves is what we become.
In our subconsciousness we start to act towards that direction, what you want to see is what you see if you decide not to see beyond the bare surface.
Like the example you gave about people making someone a demon once we are hurt by them and pick out what we don’t like about them to validate why we shouldn’t like them anymore! We are guilty of these.
If we say something is hard then is becomes hard, if we curate our mind towards something in a positive light then we will see a positive outcome.
Welldone Mama!
